Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Policy Framework

Financial Year: 2026/2027

Last Reviewed: July 2026

Southgate Global Services Limited (“Southgate Global”) is committed to uncompromising standards of health, safety, and environmental stewardship across all tier-1 infrastructure deployments and logistics operations.

As a primary workforce delivery partner, we acknowledge our statutory duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and the latest UK HSE directives. Our objective is to execute complex deployments with zero harm to our operatives, our framework partners, the public, and the environment.

1. Statement of Intent

We believe that all workplace accidents, occupational illnesses, and environmental incidents are preventable. It is the core policy of Southgate Global to:

  • Provide a safe, healthy, and secure working environment for all direct employees, deployed structural specialists, and transit logistics operators.
  • Integrate proactive risk management into every stage of our workforce deployment and compound management processes.
  • Comply rigorously with, and routinely exceed, all relevant statutory HSE legislation, approved codes of practice, and site-specific rules enforced by our principal contractors.

2. Operational Responsibilities & Governance

Safety leadership at Southgate Global is driven from the executive level down to site deployment.

  • The Board of Directors holds ultimate accountability for the implementation and funding of this HSE Policy.
  • Operations & Dispatch Managers are responsible for ensuring that all logistics routing, fleet maintenance, and workforce placements undergo rigorous, site-specific risk assessments before deployment.
  • Deployed Operatives have a legal and contractual obligation to take reasonable care of their own health and safety, utilise provided PPE correctly, and immediately report unsafe conditions or near-misses to their site supervisor.

3. Competency, Training & 2026 Compliance

We do not rely on assumptions of competency. Southgate Global maintains a strict, digitally verified competency framework:

  • Certification Verification: No operative is deployed without physical or digital verification of valid CSCS cards and relevant high-risk trade certifications.
  • Plant & Transport Operations: In strict adherence to the new Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) standards effective January 2026, all our logistics drivers and plant operators undergo precise, machine-category-specific accredited training.
  • Site Inductions: All personnel must complete comprehensive, site-specific safety inductions commanded by the principal contractor prior to commencing active duties.

4. Occupational Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing

Modern safety goes beyond physical hazards. Southgate Global recognises that the construction and infrastructure sectors pose unique challenges to mental wellbeing.

  • Mental Health Support: We conduct regular wellbeing risk assessments to monitor fatigue, workload pressures, and stress.
  • Fatigue Management: Our centralised dispatch controllers strictly monitor shift patterns and transit schedules to prevent operator fatigue, particularly for night-time framework operations and highway logistics.

5. Environmental Stewardship (The “E” in HSE)

We are dedicated to minimising the ecological footprint of our operations and assisting our tier-1 partners in reaching their net-zero targets.

  • Logistics Efficiency: Our centralised 16+ seat transit fleets are actively routed to reduce unnecessary mileage, drastically cutting compound congestion and our collective carbon footprint.
  • Waste & Resource Management: Within our welfare compound management services, we implement strict waste segregation, prioritise sustainable consumable replenishment, and enforce safe disposal of hazardous maintenance materials.
  • Site-Level Impact: We strictly adhere to principal contractor guidelines regarding dust control, noise pollution mitigation, and local habitat protection on all active deployments.

6. Incident Reporting & Continuous Improvement

Southgate Global operates a “no-blame” reporting culture.

  • All near-misses, structural breaches, or accidents must be reported immediately to our 24/7 Operations Support Desk.
  • We comply fully with RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) by promptly notifying the HSE of any statutory reportable incidents.
  • All incident data is analyzed by our HSE compliance team to identify root causes and implement corrective structural changes to our deployment protocols.

7. Policy Review

This framework is a living document. It will be reviewed annually, or more frequently if required by legislative changes, major operational shifts, or the introduction of new technologies.
